Shalimar, Fl, and O'Fallon, IL (Hi 89 Lo 72) (Hi 71 Lo 66)
Monday, Memorial Day Party was at 1pm and we had a great group in Village one to eat brats and hot dogs. The side dishes were really good. It was too hot to sit outside but we had room enough for everyone in the lounge. I'm learning the grill so we have more people doing the cooking. Rosie, Debbie and I were cooking at the grill. Tuesday, I went to diamond art then had meditation. I didn't do so well in meditation because all I could think of what I needed to pack. This afternoon I added everything to the backpack. I got it all in except the last minute stuff. I'm glad not to have a suitcase. I sat outside a bit, but it's really hot. The temperatures are lower in Illinois.
Wednesday, My last day in Shalimar for awhile. I got up early and packed some little things and laid out what I will wear in the airplane. I'm always cold in the plane, so this time I'll wear the clothes instead of packing them. I met with the vampire for a couple vials of blood for my six month checkup. I get blood work and see all the doctors every June at birthday month, I remember to do it that way. I got back and cleaned up the apartment a bit then over to another village for cards like every Wednesday. I went to the Moose Lodge for the wings and the gals wanted me back earlier then planned. I had no idea why, but I wasn't driving, so back to the village where the card gals did a surprise birthday for me. I can usually pick up on something odd, this time I didn't. It was fabulous. Thank you everyone!!
Thank you Kathy, for the cake.It was so moist and good. Thursday, I woke up at 4:45am, but didn't get up till 5:45. I left for the airport 6:50. I never get thru the security without a problem of some kind. I forgot my phone was attached to my waist and I had to be patted down because of my knee. That took a bit because the phone had to go thru the scanner. I have a tiny purse, but that would mean I had to check in for luggage the backpack unless I could get the purse inside, which I did, there's always room for one more. The flight left on time and early into MidAmerica. Frank was waiting in the lobby and we went to Culver's for brunch. We relaxed all afternoon.
Friday, Son, Frank and I did some errands, discussed the future. It was a nice time with Angie and Frank all evening.
Saturday, Rick (younger son) arrived about 1pm. We had good visit then went out to eat for my birthday dinner. It's a local restaurant and it was packed. I had fish and Angie had stuffed mushrooms that were huge. Left to right, Kendall, Rick, Dee, Angie, Frank, Anna

Sunday was the big day, NASCA Race near St Louis, MO. Frank and I have made it a tradition thinking of Jim. The race is in his honor. Rick joined us this year (3rd year). Every year is different so far. The parking all three years is something we're still learning how to handle well. I can't walk very far so we try to get the closest spot. This year there were very few cautions so we got to watch more passing and pit stops under the green flag. The food is always good at the track so that's a big plus. It was a perfect day, 85 deg and lower humidity. We had covered well with sunscreen so none of us got sunburned.
