Decorating - Candlelight Remembrance - Orange Groves

Auburndale, Fl  (Hi 76  Lo 60)

We spent Saturday and Sunday decorating the house inside and out. (Click on the photos to enlarge)

We got these lights when we stopped at the Christmas Story house in Cleveland Ohio. We also got the Leg lamp.

Yeah, I know, I like tacky.

We have lights everywhere, but still not enough. I add to it every year. The outside was all done Saturday night then we noticed one side of the roof didn't work, so had to get another long strand up on Sunday to replace it.

I still need to decorate the golfcart.

The back toward the lake.

Tuesday evening was the Hospice Candlelight Remembrance. There were 175 people in attendance. They had a brass quintet from Florida Southern College. Lighting of the Christmas tree and the candles. Each person could say who the candle it represented. We served hot apple cider and had cookies. It was well done and very emotional.

We've been watching the area turn around this past few months. The orange groves we had four years ago have died from the disease that's hit Florida groves really hard. Now the owners are selling the land. It's gone from lush green trees with oranges to this:

Now there's a lot of homes being built.

And mowed down land.

The lake area has been quite active this week. We've had a Woodstork.

The pelicans are back with the escort black birds.

Another busy week coming up. It's never dull this time of year.
