A Busy Day of Errands

(Edwardsville, IL) Hi 80 Lo 66 -- Thunderstorms were expected this afternoon and we had a lot of errands we wanted to get done. So we cut our morning routine short and headed out.

The first thing on the agenda was going to Scott AFB to get a new military ID card. The waiting room was full and we had to wait for almost two hours before they called my name. I'm turning 65 next week, which is why I need a new ID card (different medical category... Medicare). It's hitting me hard and I'm not liking it. I know it's just a number, but so many things change and I'm not looking forward to it. I know, you're playing your fiddle and singing "Too bad." But STILL, I'm so bumming!

We had some rain while we were waiting, but nothing bad, so on to the commissary and BX to pick up a few things before we leave. We have a busy week ahead and may not get back to the commissary for groceries. Jim got a pair of shoes at the BX.

Next stop was the furniture store to pick up my early birthday present, a new La-Z-Boy recliner. We picked it out last week and it arrived at the store this morning. It's the perfect color and fits in the RV very well. It's narrower than my old chair, which gives us more room for the table between us.

It swivels like my old one, so I can still turn around and face the dining table for meals.

My old chair is now where the couch was. It's nice to have a comfortable chair to sit in and watch out the back window.

We had a hard storm come through at dinnertime with lots of rain and some wind, but nothing severe. Storms are expected for the next couple days. That's life in the midwest in the springtime.

Jim watched the Cardinal baseball game and I got on chat for the evening. It's hard not to fall asleep in my nice comfortable chair.

Turning 65 is better than the alternative! My school mate passed away on Wednesday. She would have been 65 on June 15th. I hadn't kept in touch with her over the years but it's sad knowing that we're 'at that age'!

Enjoy your new chair!
