One of Those Days, and A Movie

(Jacksonville, FL) Hi 85 Lo 74 -- Yesterday when we pulled into the park both of our vehicles were running on fumes. We both had our gas warning light on, but we made it. I'm glad there's a few miles left when the light comes on. Today was movie day, so we left early so we could gas up my car. The first place we stopped didn't have regular, only premium at a hefty price. Further down the road we got a network error and the pump wouldn't pump. One more station down the road we finally got fuel, but at several cents higher. What an adventure that turned out to be!

Despite all the delays we made it on time to the movie, or so we thought. We sat in the theater, watched all the previews, and when the feature came on it wasn't anything we expected. We had wandered into the wrong theater. The doors to theater 2 and 3 were so close together that we though they were for the same theater. We left and went next door to the correct theater. There was about a 10 minute difference in the start times so we watched the previews again before the correct movie started. We saw Trouble With the Curve. We both liked it a lot. It's a baseball movie, but the story line was great. And we really enjoy watching Clint Eastwood. He seems to never make a bad movie.

The theater was in a huge shopping area, with just about every kind of store imaginable. We stopped at Best Buy to do a little browsing, then had an early dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings. The wings were great, but the noise level was so high we both got headaches before we left. We decided to get this month's groceries at Walmart, which was in the same shopping center, then came home.

Florida is the only place we've ever seen that can be bright and sunny and raining at the same time. It rained while we were in the movie and it rained when we went to Walmart, but it was bright and sunny and very humid.

We watched the end of the NASCAR truck race from Talladega then went next door chatted awhile with our neighbors. They're leaving in the morning so we wanted to spend a little time with them before they leave. Tomorrow will be our usual Sunday "in" day, then we're on the road again on Monday.

Regarding "it can be bright and sunny and rainng at the same time...." Come to Oregon sometime and you can see the same thing here.:)

We've had a couple instances of pulling in to a station on fumes. We've been second guessing our mileage, and decide to pass up a truck stop and are sorry later :)

Glad the movie worked out for you. I'm surprised it was timed in the right direction and you didn't miss the first 10 minutes :) That's my luck :) Glad you enjoyed it.

Of course you're all using gasbuddy.com to find the cheapest place to buy fuel along your route. :-)

Trying to locate fuel when running on fumes is not fun. We ran out of gas once in UT and let me tell you, that is the only time I've let that happen. How much are you paying in FL? CA is really out of control.

We have a Wild Wings near our home and seldom go there just because of the noise - too many TV's blasting and no sound deadening in the ceiling.

At least the right movie was starting 10 minutes AFTER you found out your mistake... you would be bummed if you missed the first ten minutes of the one you really wanted to see!
