(Joliet, IL) Hi 81 Lo 64 -- Jim told me last night he wanted to leave by 10am.. That means I had to be up by 8. Yesterday we forgot to fuel up the vehicles, so we had to do that and also dump the tanks before we left this morning. I was up at 7:45 thinking that would give me plenty of time to wake up. Well, since I was up earlier he pushed to get me going faster and we left at 9:40.
We are learning so much about the terrain in different states. What we THINK it would be we're finding out it isn't. We've lived in Illnois for many years, and never knew it was so pretty and hilly in the Northwest part of Illinois. It was a gorgeous drive this morning, with rolling hills and landscapes. A lot of people told us how beautiful it is around Galena, and we agree. The trip went very smoothly. We thought we'd run into some rain by the end of the trip, but we didn't. We're staying at the Hollywood Casino in Joliet. We checked it out last summer when we were in this area, when it was named Empress Casino. It's really nice.
The RV park has around 50 sites, all with concrete pads, water, and electric. There's an on-site dump station, a bath house, and a small laundry. Pretty nice amenities for a casino park.
Here's some views of the park, starting with our site.
We went to dinner at a sports bar in the casino.
There were TVs all over the place, including a huge 80 x 40 foot screen that covered one whole wall. Jim was in heaven!
We had a great travel day. We're still amazed when we set up at a completely new location but still have our same home and furnishings. Life is good, but the RV life is even better! We'll be here till Monday.
