(Raleigh, NC) Hi 77 Lo 58 -- We had to get up early to take my car to the garage for a check engine light. Jim took it to Auto Zone while I was gone this past weekend, so we had a couple ideas on what may have been the cause. The garage I go to here in town is very reliable and doesn't give anyone the runaround on prices. The problem was part of the environmental control system involving a charcoal canister that needs replacing. It would be ok to drive it, but the engine light would stay on, so if another problem would occur I wouldn't know it. Since we're going on a long trip I want to have the car in good shape. Once they determined the cause we left while they called around for the parts.
We went to my mom's to do some work on her computer. We loaded a program called Team Viewer, which will let me remote in to her pc from anywhere we happen to be. That way I can help her with any problems she has. It works very well; once we're "connected" I can operate her machine from my laptop. It's great for our situation. I also showed mom how Facebookworks so she can keep track of us and her grandkids. After all that we took her with us to Walmart for groceries and a few other items. While we were there the garage called and said they got the parts already and they could put them in today. We finished our shopping and went back to the garage. It was supposed to be a two hour job, but with a couple people working on it, we were out in 45 minutes. They also got a part that was already included with the canister. The gal that ordered it took off the price of the extra part, which saved us some money. That was nice of her to do, rather than just charge us for a part that wasn't needed. That's why we keep coming back!
Jim had a dinner engagement with some of his ex-coworkers tonight, so I stayed home and got some pictures printed out, and loaded our digital picture frame with some new pictures.
Tomorrow we meet another couple who are preparing to go fulltime.

Glad your car was fixed and it was nothing major... How nice that there is a program to let you have access to moms pc. I didn't even know such a program existed.
Have fun & travel safe
