(Wauchula, FL) - It was a misty rain when we got up, then there was a heavier shower, but it didn't last long. We got hitched up by 10:00. Jim got the rig around the trees and over to the dump station. After we dumped our tanks I got behind the wheel for the 3-hour trip back to Wauchula. It was a very smooth trip. The roads were fairly easy, it's the stopping and starting in the towns that was a challenge, getting the timing right on when to stop and when to go through the yellow lights. It didn't take long to get the hang of it. I didn't have any right turns onto single lane roads, which to me are the hardest turns to make.
When we got to Orlando we passed a 4-mile long traffic jam over in the eastbound lane. Neither one of us saw an accident, so we're not sure what the deal was. I was thinking tomorrow would be heavy traffic, but it was busy today too.
We got back to our winter site at 1:30, got set up and relaxed the rest of the afternoon. We'll see what's going on the rest of the week here at the park.
I hope I don't lose our readers while we're in one place, but I'm one that has to be busy so I'll figure out something to write about. Florida hasn't had significant rain since September, so it's good that they had a little bit today. The park is still pretty empty, but that should change in the next couple weeks.
We had a cold front go through overnight, so we went from 84 degrees yesterday to 71 today. Sure love it in paradise.
PS: This was the FIRST time I pulled the RV more then a couple miles. The last time behind the wheel was at the RV Driving School in March.

Good for you! Is this the most distance you have driven the rig so far? You're great!
Happy you made it back to Wauchula safely!
To answer Gypsy: Yes, this was my very first trip more then a few miles and behind the wheel since the RV school in March.
I enjoy the "staying put" posts as well as the more adventuresome ones.
Best wishes to you both!!

Congratulations! Good work on the driving!
Awesome! Congrats on being behind the wheel for the drive today!! :)
congrats on a successful drive...
Good job. That was a challenge to drive all that distance through the traffic. I really need to do the same! I think when we get to Tampa next month, I may get over to Lazy Days and go through their school. I don't think I'd have enough confidence unless I did it that way.
Congratulations! I'll bet you feel more comfortable behind the wheel now too. Practice makes perfect :)
Super job Dee!! Short posts are fine and I think your readers will continue following your blog.
You are very courageous. Great job!!
Good job. I know how good it felt when I decided to drive the motor home. Still get quite nervous in big towns like Portland and Seattle...but I will get better with time.
now jim will get a chance to relax a little in the smaller car.good for you.BUT, if hes anything like me he will still worry about you.
Since you negotiated the I-4 drive you passed the test. That road can be a pain around Orlando.
