RV Friends and Their New (to Them) RV

(Garner, NC) - We had a late breakfast and headed to Moncure, NC to see our good friends Rick and Gail.  They sold their house not long after putting in on the market and got an apartment till they found the perfect RV.

We met Rick and Gail through RV-Dreams.com in 2009.  They recently bought a beautiful 40 ft. 2005 Tiffin Allegro Bus.  They gave us a tour and then we spent a couple of hours discussing and comparing travel plans.

We also checked out the park they're in, Jordan Dam RV Park in Moncure, which is about 25 miles south of the Raleigh area.
It's a fairly basic park, but nicer than where we're currently staying.  But it's about 35 miles from my mom's, which is about 10 miles farther than we now have to travel.
Rick and Gail with their Tiffin Allegro Bus.  They wanted to be sure we knew they are now SD residents.

As a side note, on our way to Moncure this morning we stopped at a local RV dealer to buy a spare trailer breakaway cable.  It's the safety cable that plugs into the fifth wheel on one end, and the other end attaches to the bed of the truck.  If our home gets separated from the hitch/truck while underway, the plug end will pull out and the trailer brakes will immediately activate to stop the rig.  Jim read on a forum that someone had their cable stolen while at a rest stop, which means they couldn't move.  So now we have a spare cable, just in case.  Something to think about for our friends who own fifth wheels.  (Jim says you might also consider buying a couple extra of those latch pins that connect your hitch to the bed rails.)

We went to my mom's for a late lunch/early dinner and sat with her awhile, then left for home for an evening of NASCAR race watching.  Tomorrow we'll be getting the rig ready to move.

I carry all kinds of extra pins and such for our tow bar. Plus I check it after every stop.

The problem is remembering where I keep them when I need them... ;c)

Our daughter lives near Moncure. We are planning on staying at the Jordan Dam RV park. We are happy to hear that it is a good place to stay.
