OH NO! No Power, Surge Protector Caught it. (Troy, MO)

This morning we lost power (again) right after the coffee was made. I guess it knew we couldn't face the day without our morning brew.  Jim contacted our host, Jim, and told him we lost power and he came right over to check it out.  The 50-amp post had one leg out.  It turned out to be a bad circuit breaker between the meter and the buss.  So host Jim had to call the local electric company to come pull the meter so he could replace the breaker.  Of course they said they'd be here "sometime before 3pm."  Meanwhile, it was already in the mid-80's with and very humid, and Tumbleweed was getting pretty warm inside with no air conditioning.  While all this "power analysis" was going on Doris picked me up to go to town to run some errands. After we returned and while we were keeping cool at Doris's house the electric company truck finally came at 2:15.  (How come they never come on the early end of the time window?)  The breaker was fixed in no time, and the meter was re-installed.  Host Jim had to go to work so his wife Judy called my Jim and told him everything is fixed.  My Jim hurried over and did a quick check of the power outlet... 120 volts on both legs... great!  He plugged in the rig's electric cable and checked the Surge Guard and saw all the proper lights that indicate it's analyzing the power.  So we should have powered up in about 2 1/2 minutes.  But the power never came on.  :(  My Jim checked the Surge Guard again and the indicator lights were out.  Uh oh...  A voltage check at the outlet showed a leg out again.  So to make a long story short (may be too late for that), we still have no power.  There's obviously a more serious problem at the meter/pedestal that needs fixing.  We'll get with host Jim tomorrow morning to see what can be done.  If it looks like it will take too much time we may move to an RV park we found about 10 miles away.

Cuivre River State Park is close by but only has vacancies during the week, and we need a place until June 10th when we go back to Scott AFB, IL.  The park we found is Sunrise RV Park in Moscow Mills, MO.  Jim found it online at rvparkreviews.com.  He called to see if they have room.  They do, so we drove down to check it out.  First, we got lost.  The website directions were very unclear. We finally plugged in the GPS and it helped us find it.  It looks like this park will be good for what we need for a week and it's 10 miles from my sister's.   I'll post tomorrow night all about it if we actually move.

The rest of the evening we watched America's Got Talent and the guys watched the baseball game, St. Louis vs. Cincinnati.   We stayed with Sis all night.  It's just too hot in our home.

Somehow I thought you had a generator. In my travels I only lost power once, and was able to fire up the genny for the hour it took Ft. Pulaski to get the power back on.

Maybe if you open all the windows & doors and run the ceiling fan? Things like that always happen at the worst possible time, don't they.

Well...look at it this way. You have experienced just about everything an RV could throw at you in the short time you have been on the road. Some people RV a life time and never get to go through all the fun and excitement the two of you have had!!!

So glad your Surge Guard worked both times and let you know there was trouble so you didn't have any damage inside of your rig. Bravo!
