Morning Wake UP - Satellite Dish

Some updates and things I forgot to mention.

First: We heard from the dealer and it looks like we're not getting the part this week for the leveling system, so we're headed toward Florida Wednesday morning.

Second: Social Security called and all is setup for August 3 with a check. Nice!

Third: We'll get a stabilizer for the back levelers that won't come down. We'll stop at a Campers World somewhere between here and Florida to find one.

Fourth: We weighed the truck and rig on the way to Morehead City and found we're approx. 500 lbs overweight. That's not as bad as we thought it would be, now we'll figure out our next step in decreasing the weight, or change out the tires and wheels.

I got woke up to a lot of noise of a tractor. They're leveling the RV lots since there's been so much water. They put in a couple pipes for drainage across from us. It took them a couple hours so I got up and had coffee. Jim was waiting for the satellite dish guy. They're getting the park ready for the people who are here during the summer.

Satellite:
Jim will have to give you all the details and if you want them just email and he'll be glad to tell you. The dish they gave us in Raleigh was the wrong one. It seems that's more for people staying in one spot, not for someone that's running around the country. The guy here set us up with a whole new dish and tripod. We have local channels and the HD.

The dish took most of the afternoon. I walked around the park and enjoyed the temperature of 70 and the sounds of the birds. It's been awhile and everyone that was still in the park (not working) was out working around their RV's. I met a couple people and talked an hour or so with our neighbor. She gave us some tips about hitching and unhitching. She said in six months we'll be pros. They were full time 18 months and decided this park will be home for while so they've got their MH set up as permanent at the moment. They may decide to start traveling again at a later time.

We then went to do laundry, got a couple more things at Lowes and then over to Mother-in-law for dinner. We had a great pizza then we headed back to the RV to get it ready for our move tomorrow.

Jim noticed today that we've towed the RV over 1,000 miles and most of that was to the dealer and back, and now down here.

I personally would not concern myself over 500 lbs, but that is just me. If you change your tires and wheels you will still be over weight, just over weight with bigger tires and wheels. In fact they would be heavier and make you more over weight. You would really need to shed weight or beef up the suspension. If you were carrying a lot of water and waste in the tanks, that would be a lot of weight. Any ways you will figure it out. See you next month.

Congrats on getting more and more figured out. It will be exciting to hear of your journey to Florida. Nice of you to walk around with 70 degree weather. We are soooo jealous!

1000 miles is a pretty good start no matter where you are towing. Way to go!

Personally, I'd worry about the 500 pounds because you normally don't lose weight, you gain as you go along and buy/collect more stuff. If you only stay 500 over it's probably no big deal. Just remember that you need more room to slow down and stop the heavier you are.
