Shalimar, FL (Hi 62 Lo 54)
Saturday was the Farmers Market craft sales from outside the village. There were a lot of vendors and I bought a couple Christmas gifts. One was for me. A gorgeous cardinal tree in honor of Jim. (Click the photos to enlarge)
The new things people are doing is a lot with resin. People are so creative with several kinds of crafts. Someone caught me going out with my tree. (facebook)
Saturday evening I went to a ukulele class that one of our residents is teaching along with a music professional. They had several come to play so we had a great time. I bought one on Sunday so I have another thing to learn along with the guitar. I've been crocheting so much for Christmas I haven't had the time to keep at it everyday, but it's been a challenge to remembering the string notes. I'm in no hurry.
Monday and Wednesday was the last days of bowling for this year. Highest score 224. We start the next year late January with a bowling party second week of January for rewards for the highest score. I'm glad for the break, but will be ready for the next season.
Tuesday was a normal hectic day. I have tiktok as mediator at 10am then diamond art which I'm almost done with the wolf, which I sold. I stay in the same room for meditation then home by 2:30 to crochet or get things done that need attention (laundry for instance). I have cards with our village nightly except Friday.
Wednesday after bowling I go straight to hand, knee foot cards in another village, home in time to eat then to nightly cards with the gals in my village. This past Wednesday was the lobster truck. oh my, that's so good and I bought enough for 3 meals. We're trying to talk the guy into monthly. That would be so much cheaper, and yes, I'll still get the full lobster only on my birthday.
Thursday was the activities meeting. This is December so besides all the regular stuff we do around here there's also Christmas events. You have to pick the one you like the best because a lot of them are on the same day and time. I had a quick lunch and went to another village for crocheting. I'm working on shark slippers for a Christmas gift. I finally got them done on Saturday morning.
If I have time next year I'm going to make myself a pair. I found an easier pattern then I had last time and love it. Yarn is so much harder on the hands than thread I won't make any orders. Unless I triple the price. lol
Friday was a special luncheon and seminar. It was such good info. It was all about death and having info for our loved ones on what to do for the funeral, the things you want, songs, clothes, service, burial etc. I knew Jim's but he wasn't real specific. The kids took over and did a wonderful job. A lot of people don't have that option. It was great to know the services of health care in the area and they do have 24 hr care that will come to the village. IF you don't have to have nursing, it's easy. There were a lot of people in attendance.
Lunch was terrific, little sandwiches and petits for dessert.
Friday evening I went to the Christmas pops musical at the local college, Mattie Kelly auditorium. I went last year and loved it. There were a couple from the village that sing in the choir. A good number of our residents were in attendance. The choir sang from the steps before the concert.

We have had our burial plots for a few years. We will be in NJ around Christmas so will pick out our headstones. A little bit less for the kids to worry about. I always tell everyone that Len would not be alone long if I went first. I say he will bring a date to the funeral. Last week I asked one of the ladies at the Senior Center if she wanted to be his date. She hugged him and was excited. Later she asked me if it would be soon. Another friend told me not to eat anything she cooks. LOL.
