Baby, It's Cold Outside!

(Joliet, IL) Hi 46 Lo 34 -- We're so glad to have our new heat pump, it ran for most of the night. It rained this morning, and we even saw a few flakes of snow, but it didn't last long. We stayed inside and cozy all day.

Rick was busy and so was Laura today, so we decided to make it a day in and just do nothing. We love those days. Jim did take his truck for a fill up. Diesel prices are down, he paid only $3.53, which is really low for this (Chicago) area. We both were on our computers most of the day, Jim watched football, and I'm still setting up all the apps on my new phone.

We watched several RV's come and go here at he Hollywood Casino RV. Most don't stay more than a night or two. I guess they lose money at the casino and have to move on. This is our regular park when we're in the area visiting the family. We're in site one this year, right beside the bath house.

Our site

Bath house and little storage building

All the sites have water and electric only, with a dump station on the way out. The electric is a mixture of 30 and 50 amps. You have to specifically ask for 50 amps or they'll assign you a site randomly. The casino is about quarter of mile from us. If interested in seeing more pictures click here,

Tomorrow we get to go watch Grandson Jack's soccer game. Can't wait!

I am glad I have a choice as far as heat goes. If I have trouble with one I can use the other. I have heat elements in both the overheard AC units with ceiling ducts and I also have a propane furnace with floor ducts. Since I prefer to take trips in the cooler weather, I am glad have good heat sources.

When you snow, it is time to go. When are y'all getting to Avon Park?

Looks like you've found a nice casino park to stay at while in Chicagoland. Some casinos have really nice RV parks, and then some of them can be a real "gamble" and not be anything more than a parking lot.

Sounds like it's time to start heading south before you have to buy snow tires for the truck! :)

I have found that diesel prices do not vary like gasoline across the country with wide swings in price. I have found pockets of lower prices and these will always lower then other areas. Yes the price swings but it is more due to global price change, so I am saying the price change you are seeing is good or better in the low price pockets across the country.
