Short Drive to Rhode Island

(Greene, RI) Hi 82 Lo 60 -- Today we left Wolf’s Den Family Campground in East Haddam, CT. We didn't say much about it in the blog so I thought I’d post a couple of pictures today. It’s a nice campground, with lots to do for families.

There’s a game room with several types of electronic games games, and ping pong and pool tables.

There's even a miniature golf course, which is kept up well.

A large swimming pool, play area, shuffle board, and even a tennis court are some of the recreation options.

There was free wi-fi, but like in most parks it was very slow. We liked the park, but with no satellite signal (due to trees), and a weak Verizon signal, we'd only consider it again for short stays.

Our short 52-mile trip to Greene, Rhode Island was very pretty. There’s lots of trees, windy roads and some hills, but not as steep as in Pennsylvania. We pulled into Hickory Ridge Campground around 1pm. It's really out in the country. We got a site in a small open field and Jim was able to get a satellite signal by putting the dish on top of a picnic table. (Click on pictures to enlarge.)

We have four bars of 4G signal on Verizon, so we'll get good internet service by using the wi-fi hot spot feature on our smart phones. We’re here for three nights so we’ll be doing some sightseeing in the area.

Rhode Island has a lot of "wilderness" for being such a small state in the middle of a populous area of the country.
