Lunch with Friends - Vents Installed

(Scott AFB, IL) Hi 90 Lo 69 -- It's air conditioner time. It got hot and humid today, but the breeze was strong and nice.

Today we had lunch with Ellen and Dom, our friends who showed us around the Buffalo area last summer. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in that area. Dom's sister lives here in the O'Fallon area and it's nice when our visits coincide. We met them several years ago through Geocaching. He placed one here in O'Fallon and I couldn't find it. So I emailed him to ask him where it was. We've been friends ever since.

Ellen and Dom.

Thanks guys for the get together today.

After a good lunch with good conversation we went to Walmart to get a few groceries for Friday night's grandkids sleepover. Then back home for another RV repair project. The cover of the vent over our bathroom was trashed in last Saturday's hail storm, and Jim got busy replacing it. We worked together removing screws and parts, me inside and Jim on the roof. It was quite breezy today, but he did well and it's all in place.

The old vent cover with the hail damage.

After replacing the vent cover, Jim then installed a Maxxair cover that goes over the vent like a dome. It allows us to keep the vent open even when rains, and will also provide another level of protection in future hail storms. :)

I forgot to mention in yesterday's blog that we met our neighbor Warren. He and his wife and little girl are living in his fifth wheel until he retires from the Air Force in a couple of weeks. He sure doesn't look old enough to retire. :)  They're very nice, and they hope to upgrade their rig in the future. He admired our Cameo and said he'd like to find a nice used Carriage unit. Good luck guys... we hope you become full timers in the future. You'll love it!

I thought I'd post a few more photos of our area and bring our readers up to date.

This is the bath house and laundry building.

Our area of the park is open sites.

Another view of our site.

This is the other side of the park with lots of trees for those who like being under trees.

Jim is going to the Cardinals baseball game tomorrow with Frank, and while he's gone I plan to visit my friend Ruth again. We're sure staying busy!

Glad to see the vents went on good. I had to make two trips to the part house cause I did not have the model number or a picture of the vent. The ones I bought were guaranteed not to break in a hail storm...Now why didn't they put them on in the first place?

Yup, we'd be on the tree side! LOL

Glad you guys got your vent fixed, and those Maxi air covers are GREAT! Ours are off right now so I can give them a new coat of paint ... IF it ever stops raining!
