Rain at Daytona

(Avon Park, FL) Hi 72 Lo 59 -- Cloudy and still windy. We got up a little later than normal, had breakfast and settled in to wait for the start of the Daytona 500. The problem is rain! Why today? It hasn't rained in quite awhile but today it's raining in Daytona. They ended up postponing the race until tomorrow. But more rain is in the forecast, so we'll see.

I decided to go to Walmart to pick up some items we didn't get yesterday, and also get a haircut while there. I had plenty of time so I was determined to wait it out. There were two hairdressers today, so I waited only 20 minutes. I found out they can't find enough hairdressers in this area to meet the demand, that's why there's usually only one gal on duty and long wait times. We've heard there's a beauty school in Sebring where you can get your hair cut by a student, but they're not open on weekends. I may try them out before we leave the area.

We both read and surfed the internet most of the day while waiting to see if the race would get started. Here's a website Jim found for those of you who might want to buy yourself, or someone, something different.

The race is schedule to start at noon tomorrow, and we have an appointment and have to leave at 3:00. If it isn't over by then Jim will record the rest of it and try to avoid hearing or reading who won till we get home. This is the first time the Daytona 500 has been postponed; it's had delayed starts, and has been shortened by rain, but never postponed to another day. I'm glad we didn't go. We used to go to races a lot in North Carolina and it's a pain to get off work or to travel the next day to a race.
