Major Tornadoes in the Southeast

(Raleigh, NC) Hi 89 Lo 69  Very Windy -- We had wind all night but it wasn't high enough to bring in our slides. It would wake us up with the rocking, but then both of us would fall back to sleep. It felt like we were on a cruise ship. We had a quick rain shower, but nothing heavy.

When we got up we turned CNN on and saw all the damage from the tornadoes in the southeast. North Carolina was also hit with a couple of tornadoes today. We pray for all those affected by the storms. There's just so many this year, and we're not even in the peak tornado season, which is May.

I had to see the vampire this morning at 8:30, so I got up early enough to get to the doctor's office on time. It was windy but no rain. After the visit to the doctor I went to McDonald's for an egg bisquit. It's just something I always do after I give blood. Then I went to mom's. We watched more storm coverage on TV for a while then I started helping her sort through and throw out some paperwork that she wasn't sure about keeping. The storms were getting closer so I came back to the RV to be with Jim. Fortunately none of the storms came close to us.

Jim stayed home to wait for the tire dealer to deliver and mount the new tires on the RV. A nice guy named Steve arrived with the tires, but when Jim checked the sidewalls for the date codes he saw they were 3608, which means they were made the 38th week of 2008. That makes them over 2 1/2 years old! He was really upset about it so he called the shop and spoke with Clay, the rep he was dealing with, and told him he wouldn't accept the tires. Clay was understanding about it. He said he didn't check the date codes when he got the tires from the warehouse. (I'm not sure about that.) Clay is now looking for newer tires so we're on hold status. We're hoping for tomorrow, but it may be next week. That's OK, we're not going anywhere.

We spent the rest of the afternoon and evening watching TV and on the computer, reading emails and catching up on blogs. I have a new one to add to my list, http://rvbuddys.blogspot.com/.  Welcome Budd.

The week is flying by. I'm glad we came a week earlier then planned.

One thing anyone who attended the 2010 RV-Dreams Rally learned was tire date codes. I know Sherry and David had trouble finding acceptable date codes. I'm guessing the general public just buys "old" tires!!

Stay Safe, Nancy

Thank goodness Jim checked the dates on the tires. Seems like they were just trying to unload old tires on an unsuspecting person.

Glad the storms weren't bad in your area. We are still in Florida - thank goodness - but need to leave before hurricane season, ha ha.

I've been concerned about my family members in Central North Carolina - Durham, Troy and Asheboro. I'm hoping the storm is passing now. And I hope you two continue to stay safe and sound.(Good catching those old tires!)

Newcomers Meeting - Zoom - Emerald Coast Band

Shalimar, FL  (Hi 64  Lo 40)   This week went so slow. When you're retired the days get all mixed up and some go so slow you skip a day...
