(Raleigh, NC) Hi 86 Lo 72 -- At 2:00am I was awoken by a chirp, a quick little noise that let me go back to sleep thinking I was dreaming. An hour later another chirp, this wasn't so quiet and longer sound and it woke up Jim. I checked to be sure it wasn't something that needed attending and knew right away it was the fire alarm. Time for a battery change. I couldn't go back to sleep for another hour and half waiting for it to do it again, but it didn't. At 5:30am we got a nice rain shower that woke us both up. It just wasn't a good night for sleeping.
I thought I had a blood test scheduled this morning, but when I checked the calendar for the rest of today's schedule I discovered it's scheduled for tomorrow. I'll have to not eat after midnight and be in Cary by 8:30am. At least we're not in Clayton, which would be a longer drive.
I brought up the Eagle Cam today and found out the mama Eagle was killed by a bird strike at a nearby airport yesterday morning. You can read about it at http://www.wvec.com/my-city/norfolk/US-120702329.html. The dad was still trying to feed the three babies, but the WVEC decided to move the eaglets to another facility where they will raise them and let them loose in the wild. Eagles stay together till death, and this couple had been together for nine years and had 15 babies through the years. What a sad day. I am watching two other eagle nests that will hopefully have chicks (not hatched yet) and one that has small eaglets.
I went to get mom for the afternoon so she could be with us. While I was at her place I helped her with some computer problems she's been having. After cleaning up some stuff on her PC it's running good again. We had a good visit all day. We watched TV and just chatted.
Jim spent most of the day on the phone with tire dealers. He had no problem finding the tires he wanted, but he couldn't find a dealer with enough room for him to fit the RV into their service area. He finally made a deal with a trucking service center for four Michelin LTX M/S2 tires, size 265/75R16. And the great part is, they're coming to our site to install them! They're planning to be here tomorrow, but with bad weather coming it may be pushed to Friday. It's good that they're coming to us because the problem tire is completely out of air. It's not a problem while we're sitting here, but it would have been dicey to drive it across town hoping it would hold air long enough to get to the dealer. Jim asked me to thank those of you who sent recommendations by comment and email. He's happy with his decision to go with Michelins. They're more expensive, but they have a great reputation for reliability.
We had lasagna and salad for dinner then I took mom home. We're watching some storms west of us. Hopefully they'll dissipate by the time they get here, or go north of us.
Budd, if you read this, I can't find your email address but if you want to meet up, we'd love it. Anyone else in the Raleigh area just let us know. We're here till the 17th of May. You can email me at deewalter09@yahoo.com.
I'll leave you with this cute comic that Karen, one of our readers, sent to me.

I too was saddened by the eagle story. I've been following them since the first egg was laid. They are amazing birds!
So sad about the eagle but it's nice that the young ones are getting a helping hand.
That's great that the tire shop will come to you.
