Back to North Carolina - With Jim's Family

(Beaufort, NC) Hi 76 Lo 48 -- These temperatures are the low in Charleston, SC and high in Beaufort, NC.  We left at 9am for the trip back to North Carolina and arrived a little before 4:00, so it was a very long day. We don't normally travel more than five or six hours. We took U.S. Highway 17, which is four lanes but lots of towns and stop lights. We both agree the travel is better on interstates, especially when you're trying to make time to get to a destination. There won't be too many times this summer when we have to be anywhere at a set time.

The trip was very smooth.  We passed some damage from the tornadoes on Saturday going through Camp Lejeune Marine base. You can tell the path the tornado took.  Trees are down, and just past the trees is the military housing.

We're parked in the front yard of Jim's sister's friend, also named Jim. His beautiful house overlooks North River. He has us hooked up to water and 30-amp electric. They came to visit us in Wauchula about a month ago.

This is what they see outside their front door. I feel bad about spoiling their view.
This is what they should be seeing out their door.

Their motorhome is parked in the driveway behind us.

My Jim's mom, Alberta and brother Johnny came over for dinner.  Sharon loves to cook so she made a big pot of rice stew with fresh peas. It was really good, and would be a great dish for potlucks.

Sharon is growing a potted garden of spices, peppers, tomatoes, and potatoes.  What a great garden setup, and they're growing so well.
We have no idea how long we'll be here, maybe a week. We need to be with my mom by May first, so we'll play it by ear until then.

In the meantime, we'll be doing some sightseeing around this area, and generally kicking back and relaxing here on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina.

Nice view! We are in Tyler Texas working and wishing we were home. Oh well we will be there in three more days.

I sure wish I was back in North Carolina, but of course in the mountains. Glad to know your families are ok after the terrible weather.

What a beautiful view! I wouldn't feel too guilty. After all, they get to see it all the time :) Enjoy the time with your family.

Shalimar, FL  (Hi 64  Lo 40)   This week went so slow. When you're retired the days get all mixed up and some go so slow you skip a day...
