(Wauchula, FL) - Hi 70 Lo 59 -- I thought I'd sleep a lot later this morning, but now that I've been getting up earlier the past few days I woke up before 9am. It rained off and on all night, but not long periods of time. The morning had some sunshine, but before noon it was cloudy, with off and on rain and high wind gusts. We were even under a tornado watch for part of the afternoon. That was a good time to get our Midland weather alert radio out and update it for this area. The last time I had it out was back in July in Indiana. As it turned out we didn't get much rain in our area. It was almost like we had a dome over us. We ended up with less than an inch of rain for the whole day.
I worked on all the pictures I've taken since New Years. I also worked a couple more hours on the photos archived on our external drive. I chatted with mom on yahoo messenger awhile. Jim had a long phone conversation with the company that provides the long distance networks on our DISH satellite system. Unlike DirecTV, who provides the distant networks themselves, on DISH you have to go through another company (All American Direct). They called us to tell us that the high definition feeds for our four network channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX) have been deactivated. They were unclear as to the reason, but since it involves two companies it's probably a contract problem. Anyway, we negotiated and got both east and west coast networks in standard definition for almost the same price. So now we get the four networks from New York and San Francisco. If we miss a show at 8pm on the east coast, we can catch it again at 11pm (eastern time) on the west coast channel. And, using our rooftop antenna we get most of the Tampa and Ft. Myers local channels too, and they're in HD.
So overall we had a very slow and relaxing day that was nice for us, but not very exciting to blog about. We have a few things in mind for the rest of the week. Around here it's hard to tell what we'll get into.
Here's something I found from one of our very early blogs. I think it's worth posting again.

We were a bit surprised too when we seen the tornado watch for Miami. We have it on our weather watch since we will be there on the 29th to work at the Antique Show at the Convention Center.
Our drive today from Lake City to Wildwood wasn't as bad as they had predicted. We will be staying put for 2 days so we can celebrate our 14 year wedding anniversary.
The poem was super...did you write it or copy it from somewhere?
I don't remember where I got the poem, but there was no name on it to give credit to.
Great poem. Glad you shared it before you got blown over the rainbow.
Crazy weather, for sure...
