Windmills of Our Mind/Fair Oaks, IN

We took our time this morning getting ready to move.  We knew the time would be changing back an hour and we didn't want to get to the park too early and have someone in our spot. We left at 11:00 EST.  The hookup was so much easier with an idea I had, it may help someone else especially if you're a solo and have a 5er.

We have a crew cab pickup and you can't see the hitch from the front seat.  I back the truck up to the rig and try to line up the truck using the red reflectors on the front of the fifth wheel, but it seems it never lines up the same way twice.  I bought a stick, a tinker toy type stick, and Jim put it in front of the hitch and taped it in place. I can now line up the hitch to the king pin. I did it right away, finally! This is my view from the driver's seat.

On the way to the park we saw a huge windmill farm.  It stretched along I-65 from exit 175 to exit 195.  That's 18 miles long!  There were hundreds of them, and they were constructing and installing even more.  We didn't know there were that many in Indiana.  There's nothing else around except crops, so when it's windy they should do well.

The trip was great, only had a few drops of rain. It wasn't long we came to the campground.
ATTENTION:  I was talking to the owner and they're wanting workcampers. If anyone is interested call them.  They're so busy they haven't had time to post a help wanted.

We're here for a month. We're in site number one.  Our front door is facing the gate and you have to have a card to get in.  This park is huge.  There's a section in the back that has "homesteaders," those who are here more or less permanently.

I'll put up more pictures later since we'll be here awhile.  I give this place a rating of 8. The only thing that we don't like is the lack of hard pads and no paved roads. We have full hook ups, 50 amp and the monthly rate comes out to $16 a night. We'll have our electric use metered and we'll have to pay extra for that because we're here a full month.

We have everything set up, including the satellite dish.  It's great to be one place in the morning then travel a few hours and have the same setup with a different back yard.

We are one hour from our youngest son.  Tomorrow will be spent with Rick and his family. Stay tuned for sightseeing in Chicago and surrounding areas.  We LOVE this lifestyle.

Be sure to ask how much the park charges per kwh for the electric, and then read your meter often to keep up with what you are using. That way you will avoid surprises at the end of the month, and can make adjustments in your usage if you need to.

I was wondering if you ever drive the rig or back it in. Good going!

Homesteaders!! Now that's a new one on me! I always wanted a more politically correct way to describe the folks that never leave a park. It seems they never clean up their junk outside much either. Unless the park makes them. No wonder they have to be at the back of the park, LOL.
