Happy Mother's Day 2010

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers who read our blog, and especially to my mom and Jim's mom.  What a special day.  I had a call from both of my boys.  We're here in the area with the oldest and he was with us last night.  It's nice to be able to spend some time with him.  Since we left this area years ago we've only been able to visit for a few days at a time.  I hope every mother heard from their children.  Nowadays that's getting more and more rare.

We had a very busy campground today.  People were coming in and not knowing where to park.  If a site is reserved it has a blue tag on a pole with the name and date(s) of the reservation.  One family didn't see the blue tag and right after he got set up, someone came in and claimed their site. They had to move but it ended up ok.

We had an interesting family come in yesterday around 4pm.  It was a family of seven, two adults and 5 kids including a little baby. I think they're Mennonites because all the females are wearing plain black dresses and bonnets. I doubt if they're Amish because they arrived in their own van (Amish usually only drive horse and buggies).  They put up a large tent around dusk and we never saw them after that.  The tent is still there tonight but no one's been around the entire day.  It seems unusual to see that kind of family on a military base.  I'm sure they're not retired military if they're Mennonites.  (They're very non-violent, peaceful people)  It's fine to be in a tent, but the temperature's been in the 40's at night!  Jim "monitored" the tent construction closely because it's right in front of our satellite dish. We're still getting a good signal, though.  :) I'll keep you posted if I find out anything else about them.

We chilled most of the day.  We watched a great poker match on TV.  I love watching poker.  We also watched golf for a bit, and Jim watched some of the Cardinals game.  He's a big Cardinals fan and is enjoying being in their home area.  Jim grilled some brats and dogs, and that was basically our day. This lifestyle makes ya lazy.

Yesterday I posted about eyebrow Threading is the correct name, thank you Marian for the answer I couldn't find.

Eyebrow Threading

If you are one of those people who endlessly dote over smallest of details and cannot handle anything less than perfect, grooming and shaping your eyebrows must be an ordeal.

The simple solution is to always going for threading because that can be the only way that is closest to what you want.

Eyebrow threading originates from India and is probably the only way that eyebrows are shaped there. It is an art that results in is most natural and long lasting neatness of eyebrows because it removes hair by the follicle. It leaves no scars, burns or irritated skin. Greatest advantage is that the process allows to- follow the natural arch and only removes one hair at a time if necessary. Like with waxing, you do not have that much control.

Biggest misconception is that we use needle, which is not true. We only use regular thread and it does not even hurt anymore than waxing or tweezing. It does not irritate the skin like waxing does, and is more precise and much less painful.

Eyebrow threading can be used to eliminate a uni-brow, raise the arch of the eyebrow, or add shape and definition to the brow. The hair removal technique is not just for the eyebrows: threading can be used to remove other facial hair like from - upper lips, side burns, chin and fore head etc. as well.

Technique- It involves the beautician or whoever is performing the threading to make a loop with a thread and twirl it a couple of times. The loop with the twirls at the center and the sides held by the beautician when applied with light pressure on the area of unwanted hair growth removes hair efficiently.

Waxing Vs Threading- Although waxing may be able to give fancy shapes but the shapes are available as stencils. The stencils are uniform and standard and the same for everyone. So there’s only a limited choice with waxing. What your face and eyebrows need could be quite unique owing to your different taste or rare face type etc. The best thing about threading is that hair can be removed from the exact spot where unwanted and any possible desired shape can be achieved. Any desired shape, length or thickness may be achieved. Therefore, whether you want the foxy thin lined eyebrows or the natural yet clean ones you can get them with threading. For women who would like to pursue a more natural beauty regimen, eyebrow threading is a good choice, since it does not use harmful products.

Why Threading?

   1. Unlike tweezing or plucking, eyebrow threading removes one clean line of hair all at once, making it much quicker and easier to shape the brows.
   2. It removes hair by the follicle and is a reasonably long lasting hair removal technique that leaves the eyebrows very neat.
   3. Eyebrow threading also will not harm the skin like wax and some depilatory creams can.
   4. Desired shape/Arch, length and thickness could be achieved.
   5. If done correctly, the skin should not be red or irritated for more than a few minutes after the eyebrow threading session.

With all this information in hand eyebrow threading could be a reason for double celebration; one because of the perfect long lasting shape and two because of the little pain caused.

I have vowed to learn something new every day. And today I did. Whoddah thunk it, eyebrow threading.

Now the day is not wasted!
