Little Bombs on the RV -- Visitors - Racing Starts

We got two inches of rain last night. When the wind blew we could hear bangs on the roof and the slides. We have a tree with little balls on it and when they hit the ground or on the rig they splatter. I think it's a sycamore tree but not sure. I just know when they hit they bang.

Tree with the balls

When they hit they splatter

There's another tree behind the RV with more balls but these don't splatter. I sure wouldn't want to step on one. They're very prickly.

The pointed ones are all over the ground behind the RV.

I have no idea what either of these trees are, but when they drop it's noisy. They only bang when the winds are blowing hard, which isn't often.

We both played games on the computer along with reading some blogs all morning. It was very cloudy, and spits of snow but nothing like yesterday. We picked up the truck from the ham radio installation and waited for our visitors who wanted to see our rig.

Ann and Steve wanted to see our RV and tried to get here last weekend, but with the snow we rescheduled for today. They'll be full time in the next couple of years and we met them this fall. Steve has been in the RV-Chatroom so we connected when he moved here. Thanks you two for a wonderful evening. I can't wait to meet up again.

When we got home and watched the ARCA race along with the shootout of the NASCAR race. Racing season has started. Daytona 500 is next weekend and we're ready!

We had a great day today and it's always fun having RV'ers around. We had to pull our water hose tonight, it's going to be in mid 20's. The rest of the week we'll be on the water pump. We're both getting use to it and for some reason it's not as loud as it was so we're doing fine.

If you put little goal posts on each end of your trailer, perhaps the squirrels could come and kick all those little balls off your roof for you?

Dee,,,those little sharp balls are from the Sweetgum tree. My brother and I used to throw them at each other and would draw blood. They do make a mess in the fall when they litter the ground.

Great idea Karen!

Dee -- all I know is when you were describing these balls falling and exploding -- with your style of writing -- Nanette and I were laughing so hard we were crying.

You see we were having our own conversation about what you were describing -- and we will leave it at that. :)

As you know we love to watch you write -- such sincerity and simply calling it like you see it makes for so much enjoyment.
