Ice in Florida - Crown - Birthdays - Trip to Panama City - Olympics

It's been a fun week with the ups and downs of the temperatures. At least no snow and no ice. Just cold winds. I saw a picture in Disney World with a statue with ice. Yep, it's that cold in the middle of Florida. 

More recently, on February 1, 2026, Orlando recorded a low of 24°F, breaking the daily record for that date (previously 28°F in 1936) but not the all-time record.

Monday I did WII bowling.  I'm still keeping an average of 178.  I didn't do much the rest of the day, but did visit with a couple neighbors. 

Tuesday the usual diamond art group then meditation (Inner wellness) It was the usual people of 8 of us. I had a class on zoom in the evening. 

Wednesday it was raining and I had to be at the dentist at 9am.  I wanted to get the crown put on the tooth that had the canal last week. It was a busy afternoon so I didn't want to wait till later in the day. I have to admit, getting up at 7am wasn't easy. I had another zoom class and played cards in the evening. 

Thursday I finally got to hand, knee, and foot card game and spent the afternoon with the gals. I never try to say anything derogatory on the blog, but I have to say in my life of experiences I've learned over the years, how one person can destroy a whole group of people. I learned that in school classes and it follows through life as adults. We had the best time because one person wasn't there. Amazing how that happens and the happens in your entire life. 

Friday I usually don't have anything to do but it was busy this week. I started with coffee talk in the main commons building. The topic, FOOD, all kinds of questions to everyone on what is liked, not liked, different national foods, and what everyone's comfort food is.  Fun to learn about the people we live with and what they like.  In the evening we celebrated three birthdays for this month in our village. 

I came back home early, it was time for NC zoom. We still continue meeting since 1999 on Friday nights. I started the Olympics opening ceremony tonight. I'll have the TV hooked up instead of just Youtube for the next couple weeks. 

Saturday  I had the monthly village one meeting then quickly left to go with neighbor to Panama City to see a friend of hers. We were on the road by 10:30. It was an hour and half trip and beautiful. The weather was perfect and the water was a pretty blue in the bay. We went to lunch at Chicken Salad Chicks. They have one in Destin. I'll have to remember that one, it was excellent.  We left at 3:30 and home by 5:00. A great trip!

I went to happy hour and had a great time with a few of the gals. I came back home and on the evening chat watching the Olympics.
