Quiet Week

 Shiloh, IL  ( Hi 94  Lo  72)

In case you haven't been following  our blog, my hubby, Jim, has Glioblastoma stage 4 cancer. I'm writing in detail for those that have the same cancer what we're going thru. It all started May 23, 2021 if you want to look back to previous blogs.

This is a week of calm and quiet. The saying is it's the calm before the storm you have to watch out for. I know that can be true.

Jim has been stable this week, sleeping was normal and eating quite a bit. He watched TV and especially kept up with his beloved Cardinals. He laughs at the shows and even tried talking, which wasn't understandable but at least he tried. That hasn't been going on in quite awhile.

Tuesday we had a zoom call from Jim's family. They gather around the phone and he watched and listened to them. He seemed to know every word they were saying.

Wednesday I had two volunteers come in and I took a couple hours to go to Walmart and roam the aisles. It's been awhile. I used to go to BAC college back in the 80's when we lived here and went back to see the campus which is now a university. It's changed a lot. The whole road to get there is now filled with huge houses and lots of stores. It's like starting over in the area in knowing where things are located.

Thursday Frank came over with a friend from high school for a visit. It was so nice to see Chris again.

Friday my friend, Ruth,  came over and stayed with me all afternoon. It was so great to have someone to talk to. Thanks for the pizza and being here. The CNA also came to give Jim his sponge bath and change sheets. I still have a lot of problems moving him. It's great she's coming three times a week.

Friday night was the zoom from North Carolina. It's so great to be with them weekly. Jim slept all but two hours today. Everyday is different.

I'm happy that you are getting to take a break once in awhile. Being a caregiver is one of the hardest things to do. Emotionally and physically. Sending prayers for both of you.

When you've been through this it's hard to watch others do it.

Taking one day at a time is now take one hour or one minute
at a time and remember to breathe.

Thinking of you & sending prayers, love, hugs & peace.

It is so good that you are closer to friends and relatives in Il. I know you had lots of friends in Florida but just not the same of those you have know for years.
