Last Day In Elkhart

(Elkhart, IN) Hi 89 Lo 73 -- We're leaving Elkhart tomorrow morning and headed to the Chicago area for a couple of weeks of family time with our younger son Rick, his wife Laura, and the grandsons Jack and Joey. On the way out tomorrow morning we're making a stop at Quadra Manufacturing, makers of our Big Foot leveling system, in White Pigeon, MI. They're only about 18 miles from here so it won't be too far our of our way. They agreed to give our leveling system a full inspection to make sure it's ok.

We've enjoyed our stay here in Elkhart because we got to spend time with our nephews Dave and Doug and their wives. Yesterday we met one more time for lunch with Dave and his wife Tina and when we got to the Prized Pig BBQ restaurant we were surprised and happy that Doug decided to join us. After lunch Doug went his separate way and Dave and Tina took us by Cornerstone Bible Fellowship church, where Dave is the pastor, to see some renovations they've done.

We finally had to say goodbye to Dave and Tina, then we headed home. But not before going out of the way for one more visit to Rise 'n Roll Bakery in Middlebury to stock up on some more sweets. Their donuts are the best we've ever eaten. They melt in your mouth, and Jim says eating one is like "a cloud in your mouth." A few donuts, a small apple crumb pie, a few black raspberry and blueberry fried pies (they're like turnovers), and a loaf of sour dough bread, and we're all set for a while. :)

We'll see you in a few days.
