Long, Fun Day - Details Tomorrow

(Ft. Dix/McGuire AFB, NJ) Hi 82 Lo 71 - We had a very long day today. We went to the Jersey Shore and drove up the coast from Asbury Park to Sandy Point. We saw a lot and got a lot of photos, but we got home too late to write up a proper blog post. We're having a down day tomorrow so I'll have plenty of time then to describe our day and post some of the 185 photos we took. The new header photo is a little teaser.

The rest of this evening we're going to rest up and watch the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race from Eldora Speedway in Ohio. It's the first time since 1970 that NASCAR is running on dirt. That should be fun to see.

I have never been to a NASCAR race but I do go every year to the Top Fuel Drag Races when the circuit comes to the Houston area. They run less than 4 seconds and hit speeds of 330 mph in only 1000 feet. The officals shourtened the regular quarter mile to only 1000 feet because the speeds were getting too high. Love those races, the sound, the feel, and the smells.

You visited our old home, Sandy Hook, where I once was stationed. We lived there for 11 years and our kids still consider it their hometown. I even re-enlisted once on top of the Sandy Hook lighthouse. Good memories for us! :c)

I use to live in Asbury Park while I was going to Radar School.

Shalimar, FL  (Hi 64  Lo 40)   This week went so slow. When you're retired the days get all mixed up and some go so slow you skip a day...
