Enough is Enough!

(Joliet, IL) Hi 90 Lo 67 --  We went over to get our free breakfast this morning. We paid for it with the increase in site rental, so why not take advantage of it. I then walked my 20 minutes and already it was very humid.

We did our usual morning routine and all morning the TV weather reporters were calling for storms this afternoon more severe than usually happens in this area. There was a different kind of weather pattern that they hyped all day. We wanted to go to see grandson Jack and son Rick at Jack's mom's house in Aurora this evening, so we headed out on the 21-mile drive hoping to beat the storm front coming our way.

We were 5 miles from our destination and it was getting very dark and tornado alarm sirens were sounding. Here we go again!



It started raining so hard the car was hydroplaning, so we pulled off the road into a parking lot to sit it out. There was small hail and lots of rain and wind, but nothing that was unsafe while we were stationary. When it let up some we continued on.

We visited with Jack, Rick and Kendra (Rick's ex-wife) and ordered pizza. We thought ordering in would be better than going out in the rain and storms.

Jack loves being tickled, and Grandpa was more than happy to comply.


Blackhawks fever has taken hold in the Chicago area, and nobody is a bigger fan than Rick. So we watched the first period of game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals with him and Jack (Blackhawks vs. Boston Bruins). After the first period was over we left for home. We were anxious to make sure Tumbleweed was ok and didn't get any damage while we were gone. We got back and found everything was fine. (We had run the slides in before we left, just in case.) So we dodged another bullet. There's a lot more storms around, with more severe weather expected overnight, so we're still not out of danger. But at least it’s quiet at the moment.

While  Rick was with us, he got a text from Ellice, his step-daughter, with this picture attached.

This big tree fell from a neighbor's yard and smashed his fence and damaged a corner of his garage. Fortunately no one was hurt, and no cars were damaged.

We're tired of storms. We can't wait to head east and away from the midwest. We realize bad weather can happen anywhere, but it sure seems to happen more in the midwest.
