Day Trip to Silver Lake, IND

(Elkhart, IN) Hi 75 Lo 54 -- It got a little chilly overnight and this morning, but it didn't last long. It warmed up fast.

My school days friend Ernestine lives in Silver Lake, a little over an hour south of Elkhart. She’s recovering from cancer and I wanted to see her this trip. We went through my home town of Warsaw, and it’s grown so much in the two years since we were here before just a couple of years ago. We had a great visit with Ernestine and her daughter Teresa, and after a couple of hours we left so she could rest. Thanks for the visit ladies, we’ll see you next time we’re in town.

On the way back we saw this beautiful old stone church with a cemetery next door.  (Click on pictures to make them larger).

The cemetery dates back to 1845, so it has some very old tombstones.

We stopped at the Walmart in Warsaw to pick up a few things. It’s in an all new area that grew up since we were here last.

When we got back in Elkhart we stopped for dinner at King Wha Chinese Restaurant. It comes highly recommended by Nick Russell of Gypsy Journal fame. He eats there when his travels bring him to Elkhart, and he always speaks very highly of it. He's right, the food and service are outstanding, and the price is reasonable. Thank you Nick for the recommendation.

After dinner we turned on the TV for the evening and we got stuck on a Duck Dynasty marathon. Please help us, we can't stop watching!
