Kenny and Kathy

We drove across the park and parked at the Nature Center, which was at the beginning of the boardwalk. (Click on the photos to make them larger.)

The boardwalk wound through different terrains, from flat swampy areas to wooded forest.

We saw several Screech Owl boxes on the trees. The park rangers set these out for nesting places.

We saw several deer.

This water snake was sunning itself right next to the boardwalk.

One of the marshes.

This observation deck looked out over Lake Erie in the distance.

Here's a zoomed in view of the lake.

Some areas had very high grasses closing in on the walkway. It was almost like walking through a corn field. We asked a passerby to take our group photo.

The trail was advertised as a one-mile loop, but with the turnoffs to observation decks and bird blinds, we ended up walking close to two miles. (As measured by the Runkeeper app on my smart phone.)
After finishing our hike we walked across the parking lot to the Maumee Bay State Park Lodge.

It has a nice paved walkway that runs around the back of it along the lake.

Lake Erie.

The lodge has an outdoor pool...

... and an indoor pool.

We took a quick walk through the Nature Center before we left for lunch. Kenny wanted to take us to a local place that he knows about, but when we got there it was closed until 2pm. :( So we drove around looking for an alternative and settled on Buffalo Wild Wings (one of our favorite places).
We came back to the RV for the afternoon. Kathy and I went through some crochet and embroidery patterns on the computer, and Jim read his Kindle and napped. It was a terrific day, but we're both a little tired. We haven't been this active in a while, and we feel it.
Kenny and Kathy came over for a visit this evening, then we just chilled the rest of the evening.

I'm hoping to drive along Lake Erie on my way to NY. I'd like to hit all the Great Lakes on my upcoming trip, but I think I might miss Huron.
sounds like you had a pleasant day
