(Avon Park, FL) Hi 84 Lo 67 -- It was forecast to be in the mid-80's and humid today, so I got my walk in before it got too hot. It's unusual to have high humidity this time of year. I was thinking of going to the pool but with a heated pool it was just too hot. Kathleen and I walked a mile and that was enough.
We settled down for the afternoon with me crocheting and Jim watching the Nationwide race at Daytona. Today's race was a lot more exiting than the races we went to on Thursday. There was more passing today, which was nice to see. It was the last lap that was heart stopping. There was a 10-car pileup right at the finish, and one car went airborne into the fence and the engine, a tire, and suspension parts went flying through and over the fence and into the crowd. Several fans were injured, a couple critically. We saw a crash like that years ago at an Indycar race in Charlotte when a car's suspension and tire went into the crowd and killed a couple of fans. It's safer now with the reinforced fences, but you never know what will happen when you go to a race. We're praying for those that were injured, and really glad no one was killed.
We went to the Saturday night service at the church with Kathleen and Jon. We wanted to hear the associate pastor who preaches at that service. It was a more contemporary service, with live pop/rock music. We're glad we went, but we prefer the (quieter) Sunday morning service. :)
The rest of the evening was TV, crocheting, and chat room.
