A Fancy Car - Another Birthday Dinner

(Joliet, IL) Hi 86 Lo 48 -- Today we went to a local BMW dealer to pick up a loaner car for our son. He left his car at the dealer yesterday evening to have his electric moonroof repaired. They can't fix it until Monday. On the way to the dealer we stopped at a camera store so Jim could check out some newer cameras. He has a Nikon DSLR, which is big and heavy. He's looking for a smaller camera that will give him the same features and picture quality as his Nikon. He likes the new category of so-called "mirrorless" cameras. They're really small, and you can change lenses just like on the big SLR's. The one he looked at and really likes is the Olympus E-P3.  He's not ready to buy yet, just doing research.

We got to the BMW dealer and Jim went inside to do the paperwork while I waited in the car. After a little while I heard a car horn and looked over and saw Jim in a snazzy BMW convertible. I followed him home in my car. Here he is going down the highway.

Back at the campground.

Jim says it drives and handles nice, but was very noisy on the interstate with the top down. He said in his younger days he'd really go for this kind of car, but now he'd rather drive his truck. :) We'll take it to our son tomorrow.

We came back to the RV for a couple of hours and tried to make a few phone calls and connect online thru Verizon, but neither one of us could get a cell signal. It's like a cell tower was out or something. Our signal didn't come back till later in the evening, and then it was only 3G and no 4G. Very strange.

We used our buy one-get one free coupon at the casino "Epic Buffet." It was a seafood buffet, and it was fabulous. All the king crab legs you could eat. The buffet had salads, meats, and all kinds of seafood in addition to the crab legs. I forgot just how good crab legs are. Almost as good as lobster (but not quite). We ate till we couldn't move.

We decided since we were there we'd play a couple more games, well Jim did anyway. I put a dollar in one of the slot machines and lost, so no more of that mess. Jim spent $10 on video poker and won $4.50. OK, so we walk away as winners for the first time. I think we played about 20 minutes or so.  The place was  hectic. People everywhere, even the craps tables were full. I guess there's not much of a problem around Chicago with people having spending money.

When we got back to the RV Jim watched the first James Bond movie, "Doctor No," which came out in 1962. Every Friday he's going to watch a Bond movie, in chronological order, leading up to "Skyfall," the new one that will be out in theaters in November. That's a total of 23 movies.  It will be fun to watch how the styles and special effects change through the years. This one showed a Pan American Airlines plane taking off. A brand from the past.

Lobster doesn't even begin to compare with crab legs - IMO. I had a convertible about 12 years ago. It was a gorgeous blue firebird and every teenage boy in town was in love with me. Had fun but I sure wouldn't want it now.

Have you seen the BMW tour in GreenvilleSpartanburg, SC? It is AMAZING! After seeing that, if I had the money, I'd buy a BMW!
