Transfer from Hospital to Rehab

NC State Fairgrounds, Raleigh, NC)  Hi 72 Lo 48 -- What's up with stuff always happening early in the morning? As a night owl I think business hours should be noon to midnight. Anyone agree? I was up too early, around 8:30.

Our first appointment was at 10:30 to see another assisted care facility. We weren't as impressed with this one as the one yesterday. We went straight from there to the hospital and Mom was being prepped for the trip by ambulance to the rehab facility. Her back is much better. She's still in pain when she tries to transition from lying to sitting and sitting to standing. But she can walk pain-free but very slowly. We're hoping rehab will help her get back to to where she's more mobile.

Once they got her on the gurney and on the way to the ambulance we left for the rehab center. We stopped at a Burger King drive-up and grabbed some lunch and arrived at the center just as they got her to her new room. There were people in and out setting her up and getting information. We stayed about an hour, then left to get more done. We stopped by my eye doctor to make an appointment, and they had time to take me right then. So that's out of the way. I have a new prescription, and I now have bi-focals instead of the tri-focals I've worn for years.

We went back to mom's apartment and rested for a while while we did her laundry, then went to dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant. We also stopped by a local ABC (liquor) Store and picked up some empty boxes to take to the apartment. We'll need those when we tackle the "moving out" process. Then it was home to rest up to be ready for another full day tomorrow. Jim is still going through mom's financial papers to get ready for our meeting with her financial advisor tomorrow evening. We have some more facilities to tour tomorrow. We're finding out that it's a lot easier to get a room in a facility if you're coming directly from a hospital. That's a good thing.

Wow Jim and Dee. You have a lot going on. I hope your mom continues to progress. By the way, I love that picture of Raleigh that you have posted as your banner. Take care now...

Hope you get your Mom settled in okay. Do you still think you'll be back in Florida this winter?
