(NC State Fairgrounds, Raleigh, NC) Hi 75 Lo 61 -- Last night we watched the State Fair fireworks show right outside our door. It was spectacular! We'll be able to enjoy these fireworks shows for nine more nights. Jim may dig out his tripod and try to take some photos one night.
This was the day we've been waiting for. The day mom got to move into her new home at Carillon Assisted Living. The rehab center released her a little after 10am and we drove her to Carillon in time to get her settled in before lunch. We were concerned about how she would feel when she first got there. She loved it! We went through some of the things we brought over yesterday, packed up some books and things she didn't want, then went for lunch in the dining room. There were a couple women that introduced themselves to mom and made her feel welcome. The meal was very good and just the right sized portions. It's all very organized with excellent table service, and an elegant atmosphere. We spent the rest of the afternoon marking all her clothes with her name and meeting several staff members, including the on-duty nurse. She also got fitted for a new back brace, which should really help the compression fracture in her back heal.
We left early evening and went back to the apartment to pick up the mail and get a few items, then went out to dinner with our Friday night friends. We had to fight the fair traffic on the way home, but it was well worth it. We feel better already knowing mom is in a safe and secure home.

It is such a good feeling when you know your parent is being so well taken care of. Glad she got settled in so easily.
We're so happy for you and your Mom. Thankfully all is working out for the best. Now you can relax some, and enjoy the fireworks and the fair too.
It must be a big relief that your Mom likes the place. Hope she feels better as time goes by with the new brace. Enjoy the fireworks.
