(Sault Sainte Marie, MI) Hi 83 Lo 66 -- We heard rain and a couple claps of thunder during the night and early morning, but it didn’t wake us totally. By the time we were up it was clear and it got hot fast. The humidity is up too.
We sat outside a couple hours talking to the neighbors that we met the other day, Roger and Dianne. They told us all about some of the places they’ve been, including the Tahquamenon Falls that we were thinking of going yesterday. We must have just missed each other as we went to Brimley State park, which is on the way to the falls. I enjoyed our time with them today, we’re both leaving tomorrow morning. They’re going south and we’re going west.
I took more pictures of the campground. Click on the pictures to make larger.
This is the full view of the river from the riverbank at our park.

There’s only a few trees around.
Roger and Dianne’s Motor home in front of our back window.
Our campground from the river, taken during our Soo Locks boat tour on Friday.
One of the many ships that go by during the day. It’s like our time in Mayport, Fl that we love so much. These lake ships are flatter and narrower than ocean vessels, so they can fit through the locks.
I did this map of the locations where I saw each of the Great Lakes. The locations are in red.
H = Lake Huron, St. Ignace, MI
O = Lake Ontario, Kingston, Ontario, Canada
M = Lake Michigan, Indiana Dunes State Park (taken last summer)
E= Lake Erie, Hamburg, NY, just south of Buffalo
S = Lake Superior, Brimley State Park, MI
We didn’t get out much the rest of the evening. It’s just too hot and humid. We’re glad to be inside in the cool AC. Tomorrow we move about 180 miles to the west. It will be our first stay at a casino RV park.
