Timing is Everything - Wonderful New Place to Call Home Till May

(Wauchula, FL) – Timing is everything.  We got up at O-dark hundred mainly because it was so cloudy at 8am that it looked like it was earlier.  We didn’t hurry  getting packed up and we’re glad we didn’t.   The British destroyer MHS Daring D32 was departing the same time we were, so before we left we watched it go out of the port.  (Click on the photos to make them larger).

We were on our way south by 9:30.  It was a fabulous day with high clouds to keep it cooler.  With one stop at a rest area for lunch we arrived at Little Charlie Creek RV Park in Wauchula about 3:00.  Not a bad travel day. This is the conclusion of the plans made when we first started out in March.  It’s amazing the whole summer went very smoothly.

Some of the cool things we saw along the way.  Palm trees along LPGA Boulevard.

Just west of Orlando is this electric power pole.  Can you tell we were near Disney World?

We already met some of our neighbors at the park.  I’ll have to say, Jim does a wonderful job picking our places to stay.  This one will be a 81/2 or 9 rating.  The only reason it's not a 10 is no view to speak of, and no concrete or asphalt pads to park on.  There is a concrete patio and driveway.

We’ll check out things more tomorrow, but it looks like there will be a lot of socials, and I’ve already been invited for shuffle board, which I love playing.  (OK, no "old" jokes.)  People are very friendly, and most of them are snowbirds who have permanent park models that they live in during the winter months and travel north in the summer.

It looks empty right now, but it will soon be full and I’ll take pictures again. There’s also several park models to rent through the winter.  Stay with us, I’m not one to just sit for very long at a time. We’re going to get hitch itch while we’re here so we plan to do some short trips to other parks around Florida.  In the meantime, I’ll tell you what people do in a winter park to keep entertained.

Have I mentioned lately that I love this full time lifestyle?

We have stayed in that area in a thousand Trails park. The big attraction was looking for sharks teeth in the Peace River.

When I was a kid the park up the street had shuffleboard courts, and we had fun trying to play it. Now I would live in dread that someone would try to get me into a game. But it does look like it could be fun, and I hope you enjoy it. I actually think you'll be the youngest on the court, though.

Looks like a nice place to spend the winter socializing. We'll stay with you while you explore the area. Safe travels.
