Grocery Shopping (Scott AFB, IL)

We were up around 9am and it was already 87 degrees and the temperature climbed all day.  The humidity dropped a bit so we didn't feel the heat as much in the RV.  Jim turned on the A/C in the bedroom to supplement the main unit, and that made a huge difference. It's great having 50-amp service.

We thought about going sightseeing today, but neither of us had the energy.  We stayed in and tried to find things we can't locate. A little  radio that Jim wants to walk with isn't around, a power plug for the ham radio is missing, and some games I know I have  aren't where I thought I put them.  That's a downside of living in a little place.  Finding something is harder then if you have a big place to put stuff.  Seems like it should work the other way around, but it doesn't.

We're having a friend visit tomorrow who's passing through on a trip from NC to the upper midwest.  Later in the afternoon our son and his family are coming for dinner, so we went grocery shopping.  There were no lines this time at the commissary (grocery store on base).   I only picked up the stuff I needed, nothing else.  I made room in the refrigerator for all but the drinks (again). We now know to use a cooler for the drinks when our guests arrive.

We were talking in the chatroom last night about having friends. You have your relatives and you have friends.  Some are from your childhood days, but it's very nice to know you can make really good friends as an RV'er.  That's great since you're usually a long way from your family when something happens.  I've seen on blogs where people are close enough to help others while on the road. It's great to have blogs just to know where people are located.

Jim got the grill out tonight and cooked up some chicken and brats.  It's great to not heat up the kitchen.  We'll have another grilled meal with the kids tomorrow night.  It's going to be fun the next couple days.

Hi there

So good to get caught up with you. Sounds like you are having many happy experiences.

I so remember the shopping trips to the commissary when we were in the service ~ what a savings we got on groceries, is it still the same?

Enjoy your time with the family tomorrow night. We are going home on Monday for three days off and the first date I set was with our son, Jamie and his family, Suzanne and Opal. Can't wait to see them
