Back to Illlinois - Tire Fixed -- Another Site - (Scott AFB, IL)

Today was moving day.   I hate leaving my Sis, but it's time.  She's going to be very busy the next couple months and we're about to pop the tanks.

Dodging the flags again.

WE DID IT!  We made it 18 days without dumping the tanks.  We showered at my sister's, and we washed our dishes in a dishpan and dumped it outside (with permission from our hosts).   We were very careful with the black tank, thanks to Sis providing a "bath house."  We can't deal without electric or we'd need a lot of propane to run the generator.  It's too humid now to be without the A/C.

We left our spot in the field about 10:00.  First stop was a local tire dealer to check a leaky tire.  In two and a half weeks one of the tires on the RV was down 15 pounds.  We stopped on the way out at Child's Tires in Troy, MO.  They were able to take care of us right away.  They had an air jack that lifted the RV and they had the tire off in no time.  Within minutes they found a small piece of wire that had punctured the tire just enough to create a very slow leak.  They did a patch and we were on our way.

We got to Scott AFB around 1:00 and the first thing we did was dump and clean out the tanks. Now we're in site 13 at the other end from where we were before.  We're around the other side from where the bath house is located so we may drive around once in a while instead of walking.  Oh yes, we'll walk too, we're not THAT lazy.

Looking from the front of the RV.

And more trees. This is the back window view.  At least there's more room for the satellite dish, which is right out the back window.

After settling in and getting cooled down - the humidity is high along with the temperature - we both got online with good reception on our Verizon Mifi.  It was very slow at Troy.

I got to do a video chat with Sandra, one of my favorite chatters in Canada.  We tried that last year but we couldn't do it because her Mac and my PC wouldn't communicate.  It was great seeing and hearing her for the first time.  Thanks Sandra!!!

We'll see what we get into with the kids in the next few weeks.  We'll be leaving here on July 5, so if anyone is in the area, let us know and we'll meet up in town or get you outside the gate.

Good to see you are back safely to Scott, hope the St louis traffic wasn't bad on I-64. You missed it the last couple years when it was all torn up. Have fun with family, maybe we'll see you again before you leave in July. Sam & Donna.

Oh I am so proud of you for taking your first steps at quasi-boondocking! You are getting the holding tank and freshwater conservation down pat! See? Next will be power usage and solar and batteries! LOL
