Sightseeing St. Simon Island, GA- Fuel Going Up

We both slept so sound we didn't hear five motor homes leave this morning. We knew our neighbors were leaving at 6am, but we sure didn't hear them. We're VERY thankful for the dual pane windows, they're great for noise and no cold air. Another good thing to remember if you're going full time.

This view is going down a road in St. Simon Island area of golf courses and big homes.

Jim did some computer search on St. Simon Island. It's about 30 miles and we wanted to get out and see the area. I did a search for a geocache on St. Simon Island and found several of them listed. It was gorgeous 65 when we left about 10:30.

There's not a whole lot to see except a lot of marsh lands and water. Our first geocache, Jim found. We had four listed but one we couldn't find and the other two were in water areas which we weren't prepared to wade water. They've had a lot of rain here lately, so most of the dry land is now very wet.

This is the location of the geocache, it's an ammo box, it's behind that bark.

This tree was huge and it was on the path toward the geocache.

We found a park that we could walk on the beach, but it was too cold to stay long.

Ocean view

This tree has something on it that's really gooey looking. We have no idea what's wrong with it.

Lots of water

and marsh areas

When we left this morning there's a filling station about .8 mile up the road with $2.71 a gal, we thought we'd wait to get filled for up tomorrow after we did our sightseeing. When we got back, it was $2.77 a gallon. Diesel is now $3.19 a gallon. It's going up, like it does every spring.

We're getting questions on the comments about why we have an extra car. The fuel increase is one example to have a car that gets 35mpg. We love having the extra little car. We like to do a lot of sightseeing and geocaching. We're not comfortable taking a dually truck into a lot of areas so we chose to take my little car for all the extra places we'd like to see. It's handy.

We love hearing from you. If you have questions please email us, we'd love to hear from you. deewalter09@yahoo.com

We're on the move again tomorrow, then we'll be staying for 10 days at the same park. Our park is almost full tonight. They keep rolling in, all shapes and sizes. Nice place if you're in this area.

It might be getting to be time that the Florida Snowbirds are starting to move north.

I love to read your adventures.

Regular Gas is $3.20 in California and will go up more.

We've been to St. Simons many times. Always have enjoyed our stays. If you need a down home treat go to Willies Weiner Wagon in near-by Brunswick. Talk to you later.

You took some wonderful pictures, Dee. Almost makes me homesick for the marshes in coastal Georgia - but not too homesick!

We are considering another smaller vehicle as well...to sight see and just 'get around' better. You are right....those duallys just don't fit well everywhere!
