Photo Class

This is Saturday and I had to be up by 7:15am, not good. I actually woke up at 6 but fell back to sleep a few times. I scheduled a photo class about two months ago that is in Durham (near Duke hospital) and I knew it was about 30 min drive. I left at 8:00 and got there at 8:40 without getting lost. The GPS (Nuvi) did a great job getting me there, plus I followed the hotel van that just happened to pass me. Speaking of GPS, the other day it was telling us to turn left when it should have been right, so still not a fully trusting item in my book, but it's close enough to get us to where we need to go and you have to put in if you want the "fast" way or the "shortest". The shortest may be through a town with lots of stop lights so think before entering.

Back to the class. The first half was way above my head with F stops and percentages of light for aperture, shutter and ISO. Jim talked me into the class and I DID get something out of it, but I'm not into photography like the others in the class were. I just wanted to figure out what some of the dial emblems are on the camera and how to get shots of the grand kids while they're playing or doing things they shouldn't be doing without them knowing I'm taking a picture.

It got quite interesting after lunch, it was more on what I went for in the first place. It was still way over my head, but more fun near the end when the teacher showed how to take different views and some would be laying down, from above and sideways to get good shots that would catch your eye. After the class finished we filled out the feed back and then we got tickets to win prizes. I won the new Photoshop book. The class tomorrow is a continuation and actually taking pictures. No, I'm not going, I just can't get that interested. Some people have SLR cameras (whatever that is) and some have the sure shot, like I do. Point, click and check, that's my kind of shooting. It was neat and I did learn something, but for those that are photographers and do it for a living, don't worry, I'll be no competition.

I need to get some stuff done for the rally, so will start an outline of what to do for tomorrow, then get on chat. I think I'll suggest a potluck party in the chatroom, we'll have a practice party for the big day when we actually get to the RV-Dreams rally.

Days left to buy the RV/Truck 2 yrs 11 mths 28 days

Your photo class sounded fun, I would have been as lost as you, even though I do have an "SLR" camera (I'm not sure what that is either, except it cost more money, lol!).

I'll miss the chat potluck if it's tonight, as we have company coming. See you soon!
