(Avon Park, FL) Hi 82 Lo 58 -- We turned off the air conditioner for the night and opened windows. It's been awhile since we've done that, but with trains going through every half hour at 3:00 I shut the windows so we could sleep. We have dual pane windows and with them closed we didn't hear the trains as loud so we got some sleep.
I had a craving for another strawberry shortcake. Last year we had the best strawberry shortcake I've ever had at Parkesdale Farms in Plant City, so we decided to make a visit today. Parkesdale Farms is very famous around Florida. When we got there the line was quite long, but it moved FAST! They have their service down to a science, and they keep the line moving.
This very old cash register was on display.
This is what I came for. It's a very good cake, lots of strawberries, a couple swirls of ice cream and lots of whipped cream. Jim got his with about half the amount of whipped cream.
It was well worth the trip since we won't have the chance to have good strawberries again until we come back next fall.
We only have two weeks left, so if anyone reading this is in the area, please let me know so we can meet up. We'll be headed to Ocala from here on the 29th, and plan to spend a couple of days there, so if you're in that area let me know. My email address is at the right on this page.
We came back home and just chilled. We should have walked the park, but the humidity is really high and... well, you know how that goes. Maybe we'll both do a double lap tomorrow since the humidity is suppose to be down a bit.
