Shalimar, FL (Hi 86 Lo 79)
This was an interesting week, a few different things going on, let's get started.
Sunday: I worked on the puzzle most of the morning and at 1:30 went to the Village one lounge to help setup for the ice cream social. We're trying to get people out of their apartments and be with people but that's not happening. The same few came, but we did have some laughs and great ice cream and root beer floats. (Click on the photos to enlarge) Line up for ice cream.
Monday: we had a fifteen minute session on how to prevent falls. The rehab company talked about safety around the apartment. It was basically things we knew but good to review. An hour later we had a special council meeting talking about what we would like to have more help in around the apartment. The biggest concern is the transportation after hours or weekends. There were a few other things that would be nice and they'll see what the community would like and work on ideas.
Tuesday: I started out with diamond art. Meditation we're going over the Youtube.com, Oprah's & Arthur's book, Build the Life you want. It's really good! I didn't do much when I got home but did go to cards for the evening then zoom to keep me occupied. Later in the afternoon I got my new computer. Mine died, it had a broken case in 2 places, the keys had holes in them (I type a lot) and the battery died again. I learned you have to unplug the PC once in awhile to let it go to 20% then back to 80%. I'll do that with the new one. I got Jim's PC up and running but most of the stuff was his and in his name. I had upgraded to Windows 11, but it's a desktop and very heavy. Now I have a working back up if needed. The crazy thing on the new laptop, the power button is right next to the delete button. Yep, I keep shutting it off. It's the 6th key to the left. Why?
Wednesday: There was supposed to be a talk on scams, but no one showed up. This group of activities gals and guy, will start following up on talks to be sure someone is coming. Another problem for them to check out. I did play cards in Village 5 but the best this of the day was THE LOBSTER TRUCK!!! For those following me on the blog for years, this is year 33 that I've had some sort of lobster on my birthday. This time it was a couple days late, but it still counts. I normally have a full lobster, but it's getting harder to work on getting meat out of the shell. I was glad to have it done for me. Lobster bisque soup, two lobster rolls and lobster quesadilla. Rick also sent flowers and they're all popping out of the buds.
The lobster truck and the lobster roll.
Friday: I had a doctor check my hearing and why I can't still hear since the flight to Illinois. It sounds like water so I wanted to check it out before flying again in July. It's ok and I have to learn to release the pressure (blow harder while holding my nose). He setup an appointment next Tuesday just to be sure all is ok and nothing more then just pressure. I haven't had a hearing test in years. At 5:00 I went to the luau. I haven't gone to the last couple they've had but people kept asking me to go. It was fabulous! The meal was amazing and the entertainment was too. The dancers came in from Orlando and going back after the show, so it was a very long day for them. Here's a few pictures.
And great meat it produced
Great coconut cake
