Excitement from Hurricane Matthew

(Auburndale, FL) Hi  83 Lo 78 -- The "trending topic" has been hurricane Matthew. We were trying to decide to stay or go and how bad was it going to be in this area.  The closer it got the more it didn't look like it was going to be an issue, so we pulled everything in that could fly away or become missiles and crawled in for the day.

We have been enjoying watching the ISS flying over the hurricane. If you'd like to see the location it goes over at anytime this site is a great one to check. They have special showings on TV too when they go over the storm. (Click on pictures to enlarge).

The day before the storm. Notice the Sandhill Cranes to the right.

Calm before the storm.

Lots of rainbows all day long. There was a lot of sunshine while it was raining.

Our neighbor put his boat in the canal to keep it more protected.

This was our only worry. With high winds we were hoping the tree would fall to the left rather than on the house.

We were glad to get up this morning and see no damage. There was only about 2 inches of rain so far and the wind didn't get any more then 41 mph. The storm stayed 20 miles off the coast, which made a lot of difference.

I'm sure living in Florida this won't be the last hurricane we'll go through. It makes life interesting for sure.

See you next Friday

And to think you probably worried that life in a house vs RV was going to be boring! :cD

Glad everything turned out well for you!
