1966 H.S. Classmate Dinner - Movie Day (The Minions)

(Warsaw, IN) Hi 80 Lo 66 -- We've finally had a couple days without rain. It's great being by the lake and watching all the activity with swimmers and boaters. And a lot of fishing from shore. The lake is full of Pike  fish and every once in a while I see someone pulling one out.

Warsaw is my home town. I was born and raised here. There have been many changes and the town has grown quite a bit. Quite a few of my high school classmates are still in the area and on Friday night a group of 16 of us, along with our significant others, got together for dinner. We met at the Barbee Hotel and Restaurant in Warsaw in a private banquet room. The official 50-year class reunion is next year, but this group meets once a month for Sunday breakfast, and for dinner a few times a year. I have to admit I didn't recognize anyone at first. It was great fun going through introductions and putting the current faces with the faces I remember from 49 years ago. I had a great time and so did Jim.

Jim and I had grilled pork chops, and they were huge!

Yesterday we took a drive around the area to see how it's changed over the years. Warsaw is called "The Orthopedic Capital of the World" and is home to the first orthopedic device manufacturer, the DePuy Manufacturing Company started in 1895 by Revra DePuy. There are now several other medical device companies located in town, along with many other stores and businesses that I didn't recognize. It's a friendly town with several beautiful lakes and parks, making it a great place to raise a family. But it's very cold in the winter and gets a lot of lake effect snow from Michigan. I don't miss that part a bit. ;)

Today we went to see the movie "The Minions."

We both love those little characters. One of them (Bob) even watches over the inside of our home while we're traveling.

The movie was very funny. Their dialog was basically gibberish, but just understandable enough to know what's going on, and adorable to listen to. We don't usually see a movie on the first weekend it's out. The theater was packed with families, and I think we were the oldest ones there. We highly recommend it if you're in the mood for some laughter.

See you in a few days.

On our local news here in Buffalo, ran a story the other day of how the toys of the Minnions in McDonald's children's meal......some of the Minnions are orogramed to say WTF. They played it on the news. So parents beware with your children for I would not want my child hearing constantly....WTF!

I always enjoyed our class reunions. There have been quite a few of them since I graduated way back in 1961. Did you know you can turn that year upside down and it reads the same? Since I live 1300 miles away now, I don't get back to all of them.

My class meets every so often when someone is back for like weddings, family reunion OR just back visiting family. So we let out the night and time to meet at the local American Legion and have lots of giggles for 6 hours, along with some food and cocktails. I see Dee you graduated with a lot of old people too. :-)
