Jefferson County Fairgrounds RV Park – Mt. Hood

(Vancouver, WA) Hi 81 Lo 59 -- This morning we got everything ready to go for our trip to the Portland area: slides in, jacks up, and hitched up. We left the truck and rig at the fairgrounds and went in the car to meet with Jim and Judy one last time for breakfast. It’s always hard to say goodbye to good friends, especially when we’re not sure when we’ll see each other again.

We had so much to tell about our concert last night that we didn't get to show you the park where we've been staying.  (Click on the pictures to enlarge)

We’re the only ones in the park besides the camp host and one other trailer.

Nothing special, but it's level, open sky,no trees against the RV and good hookups.

Our trip to Vancouver, WA, which is about 10 miles north of Portland, OR, took about three hours.

We saw some wild fires in the mountains.

On the way we passed by Mt. Hood, one of the most beautiful mountains we've ever seen. It's actually a volcano, and part of the Cascades Range.

Never thought much about our latitude, but this sign was interesting.

We're set up in Vancouver RV Park. It's a nice park, but the sites are extremely close together, which made it a challenge for Jim to get parked in our site. He finally made it, but it was a close call!

We're going sightseeing tomorrow in Portland.

How funny, from being almost alone to parking with a crowd.

Those trees are REALLY close to the rig -- Tom would have had a fit! Mt. Hood was beautiful; you got a really good view of it!

Oh, I almost forgot . . . we cross the 45th parallel here in Michigan, too, and passed a similar sign every time we travelled "up north" to go camping . . . I thought it was cool to see one in another state!

The side view with the tree shows what a close call it was. Doggone it, Tumbleweed Jim, you're good!

Don't miss Voodoo Donuts in Portland, but be prepared to stand in a long line. :c)

Even thought you are half way between the equator and the north pole, I bet you all don't do things half way.

I bet you're hating being by that tree! Hope you enjoy Portland, it's a great city with lots to do.
