Rare Back-to-Back Travel Days

(Carson City, NV) Hi  88   Lo 52 -- Yesterday was one of those traveling days that was a lot of nothing till we got to something. There’s nothing but desert and distant mountains from Las Vegas to Tonopah, and very few towns.

Here’s a few views along the way. (Click on pictures to enlarge)

When we got to Tonopah we came upon this decorated house.

We wanted to stay at the RV park at the Tonopah Station Casino, but they were full. The park is full of construction workers from a nearby solar project. We went to the only other RV park in Tonopah, Joy Land RV Park. It wasn't much to look at, but it was adequate for our short stay. The full hookups worked fine, but we had no wi-fi or cell phone signal. It seems we have one place every year where we can’t connect to the internet.

There weren't even any TV stations available on our rooftop antenna, so we watched recorded RV shows for the evening.

We were going to spend our customary two nights between moves, but with the lack of internet and TV we decided to move on to Carson City today.

The scenery was about the same, except the mountains were taller, with some snow still visible on the peaks. More views going north on US 95.

The farther north we got the more green it became. It was nice to see some trees.

We made it to Carson City around 2:45. It’s gorgeous, with snow-capped mountains in the distance.

We’re at the Gold Dust West Casino RV Park. We'll be here for the next month visiting with George and Linda, our very close friends from our military days. Although we'll be doing a lot of sightseeing, we're looking forward to taking a break from the rapid travel pace of the last two months. We may not blog every day, but we'll be sure to let you know about all the fun stuff we do.

Thanks for following along with us.

Joy Land reminds me of a few RV parks I've stayed overnight in. I liked the fact that I could pull through since I never learned to back up very well.

My son's girlfriend's family lives in Carson City. Never have been there, but I hear it's a nice place. Enjoy your time there!

Wonderful pictures and descriptions. My RV is still in the shop. Seems like it has been in there for an eternity. Now that I am stuck at home, I have to travel by reading your postings and looking at the photos you have taken. Thanks for letting me tag along.
