(Avon Park, FL) Hi 80 Lo 57 -- It's been beautiful the last couple days. We're within two weeks of leaving and time seems to be slowing down. Since the RV is all cleaned inside and out and the cupboards are ready for travel we've settled in for some basketball. It's nice to be able to watch games all day on Thursday and Friday without having to worry about going to work. :-) There's been a lot of upsets in the first couple of rounds. The North Carolina Tarheels won their first game, and Duke lost their first game, so it's been a good tournament for us so far.
Thursday was our last potluck here in the park. I decided to make deviled eggs, but not just regular deviled eggs. I saw a great idea on Facebook and decided to try it. They turned out half decent, but it took a lot of work. (Click on the picture to enlarge.)
The eyes are pimentos from olives, and the beaks are sliced cheese. They were quite a hit at the potluck.
Friday I went to the crochet group, then visited some friends for a couple hours. When I got home we sat outside, me crocheting and Jim reading, until it got a little too warm, then we went back inside and watched some more basketball. We went to play cards in the evening. Only a few more cards nights left. :-(
Saturday neither one of us moved much. We both worked on the internet, Jim looking up parks to stay this summer and me looking up sightseeing places out west. One of my friends in the chat room last night referred me to the Bayfield Bunch blog for information about ghost towns. I'm looking forward to seeing some real ghost towns, not the touristy ones. Two of them we hope to see are Pearce, AZ and Gleeson, AZ. They seem to be what I'm looking for.
See you in three days.

You really need to check out this web site - www.ghosttowns.com It lists ghost towns by state and gives you some information on each one. I use it all the time.
I only remember one ghost town in CA - Calico. We used to go there when I was in school. A little bit hokey, but fun :)
LOVE the eggs! You'd like Pinterest...very clever ideas with food.
There are some great "real" ghost towns in Idaho!
We were also enjoying the NCAAT too..until last night. Enjoy your trip westward this summer and safe travels. We continue to read and enjoy your blog.
Those eggs looked great! I sure could use a couple of them right now for breakfast. Now my oatmeal isn't so appealing....
NCar IaState game was exciting, of we liked the result better than you guys since Bob graduated from IaState :-)
