Goodbye Avon Park till Next Season

(Avon Park, FL) Hi 81 Lo 54 -- It's been cooler and rainier than previous years in south central Florida this winter. Jim got everything stowed in the basement before hard rains came on Saturday. There were some tornado watches in surrounding counties, but not ours. Late Saturday morning Dan and Gail came over from Wauchula for a visit. We met them when we stayed at Little Charlie Creek RV Park in Wauchula three years ago (our first winter in Florida). It was great catching up on their travels and stories of their workamping experiences. We went to lunch at a great Mexican restaurant in Sebring.

Thanks for the visit guys. See you next winter.

We spent the rest of Saturday watching basketball until it was time to play cards. By then the rain cleared out and there was some sun peeking behind the clouds.

Sunday we went to our last church service for this season, then went for a late breakfast with Bill and Doris, part of our cards group. We visited them in Beaver Falls, PA last summer. We watched the NASCAR  race from Martinsville, got the laundry done, and continued to get ready for our move on Tuesday. The clubhouse has been showing movies on Sunday nights recently, so we went over to see this week's feature, Last Vegas. What a funny movie, and it was fun watching and laughing with a large group.

Today I went to my last chiropractor appointment for this season. My hip is back in place and I can move my neck to the left again. It's an ongoing thing, and it has been for many years. Getting everything straightened out and in place is a good start to the summer.

Our neighbors behind us moved out this morning, and a lot of people are cleaning and packing up for the northern migration of the "snowbirds." There will be many departures tomorrow morning, it being the first of the month. (Monthly lot rents end at the end of the month.)

It's time to head out for our summer travels, and we're anxious to get going. We're headed to the west and northwest, to the last nine states on our travel map. We'll be posting daily except for travel days. We hope you enjoy coming along with us.

Tomorrow is a travel day, so we'll see you in two days.

The winter sure went by fast. We're anxious to set sail ourselves, 3 weeks from today. It is bittersweet, but new places await! Safe travels tomorrow.
