Remington Park RV Campground

(Ft. Drum, NY) Hi 71 Lo 42 -- Not quite as cold as predicted overnight, and it warmed up quickly when the sun came up.

We are leaving in the morning to head South. Our route is all planned out and if all goes well we’ll be in our winter site at Avon Park, Florida by November 11. Since this is our last day here at Ft. Drum I'll post some photos of our campground.

We were here previously in 2011, but it’s been expanded since then, and they've added several rental cottages. (Click pictures to enlarge)

This is the original park. Several cabins have been added. They’re mainly used by military families who are waiting for on-base family housing.

Each loop in the park has a name.

We saw some soldiers on a march outside our back window this morning.

Our site is a very long pull thru. We love how much space we have.

There’s several walking trails in the area. I took a walk today and came across this small bridge that has a beaver dam under it.

There’s several lean to's that the soldiers use for overnight wilderness training.

It’s a great place to stay with easy access to the Canadian border only 20 miles away. It’s also close to the Thousand Islands area and Lake Ontario.

Jim did the laundry and got the tanks cleaned out. We’re ready to pull out in the morning for our 200-mile trip south to Scranton, PA. Thanks for following along.

That park looks like a really nice place to spend a few nights and days. Are these parks you are staying at open to the public or only militay and post militay people?

Do you watch The Office? (was set in Scranton). Famous line from the show: "There ain't no party like a Scranton party cause a Scranton party don't stop!"

They used to do formal Office landmark bus tours, but since the show ended this past spring, I think they just have a self-guided tour that you can pick up a brochure for. We went to The Office end-of-series parade there in May - we saw most of the cast (Steve Carrell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, etc.) Soooo much fun!
