A Long Travel Day

(Raleigh, NC) Hi 78 Lo 53 -- We were on the road this morning by 9:40. We thought we'd have a lot of traffic going through Washington DC, but there was very little traffic and no construction. We made good time till we hit some construction closer to Richmond. It wasn't a total stop, but it was very slow.

It was great getting back to roads that were flat, without hills and curves. We got to Raleigh around to 4:30 and hit a little rush hour traffic before getting to the NC State Fairgrounds. It was close to a seven hour drive, which is very long for us. It's like coming home in a way. We started our full time journey here four years ago and we still have friends in the area. There's people we want to see and things to do in the area, including appointments for eye exams. It's good knowing our way around.

The RV park here at the NC State Fairgrounds is growing! If you're in the area it's a great place to stay. It doesn't have a bath house, but one is currently under construction. All sites have full hookups and 50 amp service. There is one downside; we may have to move on Sunday to make room for the influx of workers and vendors for the NC State Fair which starts on Oct 17. The nice security officer who signed us in is going to check with his boss to see if we can stay the extra week we need. We're hoping.

It's going going to be a busy week.

No traffic through DC is a really great thing. Fingers crossed that you can stay where you are while you get your to do list checked off.
