Trip to Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick, Canada

(Holden, ME) Hi 77 Lo 63 --  Today we left early for a five-hourdrive to New Brunswick, Canada. We've been wanting to see the extreme tides at the Bay of Fundy, where the difference between high and low tide is almost 50 feet. We had light rain most of the trip, but it was very enjoyable with lots of trees, great roads, and beautiful rolling countryside. We had no trouble going across the border, only a couple questions and we were on our way.

We're staying with Rick and Elaine, who live in Riverview, just outside of Moncton, NB and about 20 miles from Hopewell Rocks. After a warm greeting from Rick (Elaine was still at work), we hurried to Hopewell Rocks in time to see the high tide. Tomorrow morning we'll go back to see the low tide. We're kind of pressed for time this evening, and don't want to miss social time with Rick and Elaine, so we'll post a full report of our trip in tomorrow's blog. For now, here's one photo of the rocks at high tide, with a group of kayakers.

We had a nice dinner out with Rick and Elaine at the Homestead Restaurant, a great local place in town. We'll have much more to show and tell tomorrow night. Stay tuned.

Y'all are just going all over the place. Be ready to see some boats in the mud at low tide.

I have heard of that but never saw it. So I am waiting to see your next blog. That way I can see it through your eyes and your camera.

Hey, welcome to Canada!
You're in good hands. Have fun down by the bay.
My son-in-law wants to go to the Midas Basin (over on the Nova Scotia side) and try and outrun the tides. Ha! I told him he'd better have on his trunks.

We visited there when we traveled to Newfoundland in the Pleasureway Van. We arrived at low tide early in the morning and just hung around for 6+ hours to see high tide before moving on. It is really amazing how much the water level changes!!!
